What are Respite Services?
Caring for a loved one can be difficult if care needs are intensive for an individual to continue to reside in their family home. Respite services allow for assistance to the natural support system with temporary relief from caregiving. Financial support assists parents and/or primary caregivers with funds to arrange for someone to provide care.
How do I obtain Respite Services?
Respite services can be authorized through the Individual Plan of Service by the care manager at varying degrees dependent upon a person’s level of care needs. There are many rules and regulations for using respite funds, including a requirement to use a fiscal intermediary to institute payment for the respite monies to the service provider. A Care Manager can assist with helping to obtain the necessary items in order for caregivers to hire a respite provider of their choosing.
